Experiment 4

<- Parent page

Is it an unipolar motor even if the magnet is fixed and the sliding or rolling contact moves?

Rotating sliding contact
Rolling contact ball – 1
Rolling contact ball – 2 (both directions)

Here the magnet moves freely and rotates at twice the speed of the contact balls.

Rotating contact balls

Conclusion

Even if the magnetic disk is fixed, it is an unipolar motor. As soon as the magnet is free to move, rotation is possible. Balls can also be used as contact elements.
